VIK-28B – Viking Warrior | John Jenkins Designs
During the Viking Age, the shield wall formed an important part of infantry warfare, providing warriors with a method of defending themselves against an advancing enemy.
The formation depended upon soldiers maintaining a closely packed line, with shields placed together to create a continuous defensive barrier.
John Jenkins Designs explains that the first ranks were often formed by experienced warriors equipped with heavier weapons and protective equipment.
Spears were among the principal weapons used during these engagements, allowing soldiers to attack through or over the shields while maintaining their position within the line.
VIK-28B – Viking Warrior by John Jenkins Designs portrays a Viking infantryman standing defensively, armed with a spear and shield.
This variation features a red shield with a black design, distinguishing it from the alternative VIK-28A figure.
Designed to complement the other Viking shield wall warriors, this miniature is particularly suitable for expanding a defensive formation confronting an approaching enemy.
Part of the Age of Arthur – The Vikings collection.
