VIK-33A – Viking Warrior | John Jenkins Designs

During the Viking Age, warriors commonly fought in tightly packed infantry formations, where swords, axes and spears were employed at close quarters.

The shield wall was particularly associated with the armies of Northern Europe, providing protection through the overlapping shields of soldiers standing shoulder to shoulder.

According to John Jenkins Designs, experienced warriors such as Huscarls and Thengs frequently occupied the forward ranks, where their weapons and protective equipment contributed to the strength of the formation.

Axes were among the weapons used in these engagements, allowing warriors to deliver powerful blows against opposing soldiers.

VIK-33A – Viking Warrior by John Jenkins Designs depicts a Viking infantryman swinging a two-handed axe during close-quarter combat.

The figure features a black shield decorated with two yellow animal designs.

Its dramatic fighting position provides an excellent contrast to the more defensive poses of the other Viking shield wall warriors.

Part of the Age of Arthur – The Vikings collection, this figure is ideal for creating an active Viking battlefield scene.
