VIK-34A – Viking Warriors | John Jenkins Designs
The shield wall, known in Old Norse as the Skjaldborg, was a common military formation employed by Viking and Anglo-Saxon armies during the early medieval period.
Warriors stood shoulder to shoulder, holding their shields together to create a protective barrier against the opposing force.
According to John Jenkins Designs, the first ranks were frequently occupied by more experienced and better-equipped soldiers, including Huscarls and Thengs.
Fighting within these formations could become a prolonged struggle, with warriors using spears, swords and axes to strike at opponents and create openings in the enemy line.
VIK-34A – Viking Warriors by John Jenkins Designs represents Viking infantry engaged in defensive fighting.
The release features a black shield decorated with a distinctive yellow World Serpent design.
This release complements the other Viking shield wall figures, allowing collectors to assemble a larger defensive formation.
Part of the Age of Arthur – The Vikings collection.
