VIK-34B – Viking Warriors | John Jenkins Designs
Throughout the Viking Age, the shield wall formed an important part of infantry warfare, providing protection against an approaching enemy.
The formation relied upon soldiers standing closely together and maintaining a continuous barrier of shields.
John Jenkins Designs explains that warriors within the shield wall could support their companions by using their weapons to strike towards enemies positioned to either side, rather than simply attacking opponents directly ahead.
The fighting could become especially dangerous if the defensive line was broken, as soldiers lost the protection offered by their surrounding companions.
VIK-34B – Viking Warriors by John Jenkins Designs represents Viking infantry defending with axes and shields.
This variation features a distinctive blue shield decorated with a white World Serpent design, providing an alternative to the black-and-yellow shield of VIK-34A.
Part of the Age of Arthur – The Vikings collection, this release complements the other shield wall warriors and can be positioned within a larger Viking infantry formation.
