VIK-35A – Viking Warrior | John Jenkins Designs

The Viking shield wall was a distinctive military formation used throughout Northern Europe during the early medieval period.

Warriors stood closely together, protecting themselves and their companions with a continuous line of shields while confronting opposing infantry.

According to John Jenkins Designs, the formation was particularly effective while the soldiers maintained their positions and could support one another during the fighting.

Axes, swords and spears were commonly employed in these engagements, with warriors attempting to strike at exposed parts of their opponents or create openings in the defensive line.

VIK-35A – Viking Warrior by John Jenkins Designs portrays a Viking infantryman advancing into combat with an axe and shield.

The figure features a yellow shield decorated with two black animal designs.

Its attacking pose complements the other Viking warriors in the collection, allowing collectors to recreate the moment when opposing infantry formations meet.

Part of the Age of Arthur – The Vikings collection.
