VIK-36A – Viking Warrior | John Jenkins Designs

The Viking shield wall was a widely employed military tactic throughout the early medieval period, particularly in Scandinavia and England.

Warriors formed a closely packed line, protecting one another with their shields while engaging enemy soldiers with swords, axes and spears.

Spears were particularly effective within these formations, allowing soldiers to thrust towards their opponents while maintaining the protection of their shields.

According to John Jenkins Designs, the first ranks of the shield wall were often occupied by experienced warriors equipped with heavier weapons and armour.

VIK-36A – Viking Warrior by John Jenkins Designs depicts a Viking infantryman with his shield raised defensively while thrusting forward with his spear.

The figure carries a distinctive green shield and captures the combination of attack and defence associated with infantry combat.

Designed to complement the other shield wall warriors, this miniature is particularly effective when positioned alongside axe-armed and sword-armed Vikings.

Part of the Age of Arthur – The Vikings collection.
