VIK-40B – Viking Archers | John Jenkins Designs
Archery formed an important part of Viking military activity during the early medieval period, with bows employed both during land battles and naval operations.
According to John Jenkins Designs, the bow was widely used by ordinary warriors, while nobles and kings also valued accuracy and skill in archery.
Viking bows were mainly made from elm, although yew was another material used in their construction.
Within the Leidang naval levy system, bows and arrows formed part of a ship's equipment. The manufacturer's historical notes explain that one bow and 24 arrows could be provided for every two oarsmen.
VIK-40B – Viking Archers by John Jenkins Designs is a two-figure set depicting Viking archers reaching for arrows.
The set includes a standing archer wearing a blue tunic and a kneeling archer, representing soldiers preparing to continue firing.
The contrasting poses complement the other Viking archers in the collection, allowing collectors to build a varied formation of missile troops.
Part of the Age of Arthur – The Vikings range.
