WIS2-03N – 2nd Wisconsin | John Jenkins Designs
Few American Civil War units have acquired a reputation quite like the 2nd Wisconsin Infantry Regiment, one of the regiments that would become associated with the famous Iron Brigade of the Army of the Potomac.
Raised in 1861, the 2nd Wisconsin saw its first major action at First Bull Run (First Manassas) on 21 July 1861. Like many newly raised regiments, its soldiers entered the war with limited battlefield experience, but the regiment would go on to participate in some of the hardest fighting of the conflict.
The 2nd Wisconsin later served alongside the 6th and 7th Wisconsin and the 19th Indiana in the brigade that became renowned for its discipline and resilience under fire. The brigade's distinctive black Hardee hats eventually became one of its most recognisable features.
WIS2-03N provides additional soldiers for collectors building the regiment in strength. Used alongside the other WIS2 sets, the figures can form part of a substantial Union battle line rather than appearing as isolated individuals.
Available from The Military Workshop – an excellent John Jenkins Designs addition for expanding the ranks of the celebrated 2nd Wisconsin Infantry.
