The SFA039A - Standing Firing Carbineer - Private represents the ordinary soldier on the battlefield, standing ready to deliver accurate rifle fire against the enemy.
Privates formed the largest part of any military force and carried the responsibility of executing battlefield orders under the pressure of combat. During the Anglo-Zulu War of 1879, British soldiers relied heavily on disciplined volleys of rifle fire to defend against determined Zulu attacks.
