31301 – Confederate General J.E.B. Stuart | W.Britain

James Ewell Brown “J.E.B.” Stuart graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1854 and served in the U.S. Army before following his home state of Virginia into the Confederacy in 1861.

Stuart quickly established himself as one of the Army of Northern Virginia’s most important cavalry commanders. Serving under General Robert E. Lee, he became well known for reconnaissance, screening movements and bold cavalry operations designed to gather information on Union forces.

His flamboyant appearance and energetic personality helped make him one of the most recognisable Confederate commanders of the war. Stuart’s cavalry played an important role in many of the campaigns fought in the Eastern Theatre.

Stuart was mortally wounded while fighting Union cavalry at Yellow Tavern on 11 May 1864 and died the following day.

W.Britain’s 31301 Confederate General J.E.B. Stuart represents one of the best-known cavalry commanders of the American Civil War and makes an excellent centrepiece for an Army of Northern Virginia or Confederate cavalry display.
