RAF072 – Air Vice-Marshal Sir Keith Park

During the Battle of Britain, Air Vice-Marshal Sir Keith Park commanded No. 11 Group RAF, responsible for the defence of London and southeast England – the area that bore the brunt of the Luftwaffe's attacks.

From his headquarters at Uxbridge, Park made critical decisions about when and where to commit his fighter squadrons. His command was at the centre of some of the most intense aerial fighting of 1940.

Park later held important commands in Malta and the Far East.
