Wartime airfields were places of sudden contrasts. Long periods of waiting could be interrupted without warning by the scramble bell and the urgent rush to get aircraft into the air.

RAF084 – Playing Draughts / Checkers captures one of those quieter intervals, with RAF personnel passing the time over a simple board game.
