ROM008 – The Vexillum Bearer

The vexillum was a distinctive Roman military standard consisting of a cloth flag suspended from a horizontal crossbar.

Carried by a vexillarius, it provided an important visual symbol for the troops associated with it and helped identify units and detachments amid the movement and confusion of campaigning.
