RTA147 - Mexican Lancer Trumpeter | King & Country
RTA147 represents a mounted Mexican cavalry trumpeter serving with General Santa Anna's forces during the Battle of the Alamo on 6 March 1836.
As Mexican infantry attacked the mission, mounted troops formed an outer perimeter to intercept any defenders attempting to escape from the fighting.
This figure portrays a Mexican lancer trumpeter riding at a gallop while sounding his trumpet, signalling as the cavalry closes in on the fleeing Texian defenders.
The trumpeter provides an important variation within the mounted collection, representing a different military duty from that of the lance- and sabre-armed cavalrymen.
His galloping pose adds a sense of movement and action to displays featuring Mexican mounted troops.
RTA147 can be combined with the other Mexican lancer releases, including RTA144, RTA148 and RTA149, to build a larger cavalry group representing the horsemen of Santa Anna's army.
