SW031 - Black & Blue Samurai Swordsman | King & Country

SW031 represents a Japanese samurai swordsman wearing distinctive black and blue armour, part of the Knights of Bushido collection.

The figure depicts a rōnin, or masterless samurai, from Japan's feudal period. These independent warriors were no longer in the service of a particular lord and sometimes travelled in search of employment or offered their fighting skills to others.

This swordsman is armed with an ōdachi, a large traditional Japanese sword designed to be wielded with two hands.

The ōdachi originated during the fourteenth century and was historically associated with fighting mounted opponents and engaging enemy infantry formations.

The figure's darker black and blue armour provides a strong visual contrast to the more brightly coloured Red Devil Samurai (SW028).

Together, these two releases offer collectors an opportunity to display contrasting samurai warriors, each with their own distinctive appearance and fighting equipment.

SW031 makes an addition to collections depicting feudal Japan, rōnin swordsmen and the martial traditions of the samurai.
