VN065 – The Aussie Centurion

The Centurion tank became one of the most formidable vehicles fielded by Australian forces during the Vietnam War. Centurions of 1st Armoured Regiment arrived in South Vietnam in 1968 and soon demonstrated their value supporting infantry in difficult fighting conditions.

Their armour and powerful main gun allowed them to attack bunkers and fortified positions that could be extremely difficult for infantry to overcome alone. Despite Vietnam's challenging terrain, the Centurion earned a formidable reputation among Australian troops.
