VN146 – Lying Prone Rifleman

Dense vegetation and limited visibility meant that infantry combat in Vietnam could erupt with very little warning. Getting low to the ground provided a soldier with both a more stable firing position and a reduced profile.

VN146 – Lying Prone Rifleman depicts a soldier making full use of this position, stretched out close to the ground with his rifle ready.

The low pose is ideal for jungle undergrowth, the edge of a trail or a defensive perimeter and provides an effective contrast to kneeling and standing figures in a larger patrol.
