During the Vietnam War, the radio call sign “Dustoff” became synonymous with helicopter medical evacuation. Dedicated crews repeatedly flew into dangerous landing zones to retrieve wounded personnel and transport them rapidly to medical facilities.

The UH-1 Huey proved ideally suited to this role, dramatically reducing the time between battlefield injury and advanced medical treatment.

VN183(SE) – U.S. Army “Dust-Off” Huey represents one of these famous medical evacuation helicopters and tells a very different story from the troop-carrying and gunship versions of the aircraft.
