WH067 – Bergepanther

Not every Panther tank was built to fight. Some chassis were converted into the Bergepanther, a specialised armoured recovery vehicle designed to deal with the increasingly heavy tanks and assault guns fielded by German forces.

Recovering a damaged Panther or Tiger was no simple task. Their great weight demanded powerful equipment capable of towing or assisting vehicles that conventional recovery machines could struggle to move.

WH067 – Bergepanther represents this important but less glamorous side of armoured warfare. Displayed beside a damaged tank, mechanics and crewmen, it can become the centrepiece of an outstanding battlefield recovery scene.
