WH103 – The Scouts

Before the main body of troops moved forward, scouts could be sent ahead to discover enemy positions, obstacles and possible routes of advance. It was dangerous work requiring alertness and the ability to move without attracting unnecessary attention.

WH103 – The Scouts captures German soldiers performing this forward reconnaissance role.

Their place in a diorama is naturally ahead of the main formation – perhaps moving cautiously through woodland, approaching a village or checking a road before vehicles and infantry follow behind.
