32015 – Geronimo, Apache War Leader | W.Britain
Geronimo, born Goyakla, was a Bedonkohe Chiricahua Apache medicine man and one of the most famous figures associated with the long-running Apache Wars of the American Southwest.
Following the deaths of members of his family during an attack by Mexican soldiers, Geronimo became a determined fighter. During the later decades of the nineteenth century, he and a relatively small group of Chiricahua Apache repeatedly evaded pursuing U.S. and Mexican forces across the rugged border country of Arizona, New Mexico and northern Mexico.
His remarkable ability to operate through mountains, canyons and desert country helped build the reputation that would eventually make his name known throughout the United States. Geronimo finally surrendered in 1886, bringing to an end one of the last major periods of armed Chiricahua Apache resistance.
W.Britain’s 32015 Geronimo, Apache War Leader brings this legendary figure of the American frontier to the Dirty Shirt Blue – The U.S. Army in the Old West collection. He makes a particularly strong centrepiece when displayed alongside the Apache warriors and U.S. Cavalry figures from the range.
