GLT-05 – Turkish Infantry Firing Set

The defence of Gallipoli demanded enormous endurance from the Ottoman soldiers who occupied its ridges, gullies and trench systems throughout the eight-month campaign.

GLT-05 depicts Turkish infantry actively firing, representing the ordinary soldiers who formed the backbone of that defence.

Riflemen were essential to holding the narrow fronts that developed after the initial Allied landings. Once both sides established trench systems, the campaign increasingly became one of local attacks, counterattacks, sniping, grenades and sustained rifle fire.

Placed opposite John Jenkins Designs' ANZAC figures, these Ottoman troops allow collectors to recreate both sides of the Gallipoli story rather than presenting the campaign solely from the Allied perspective.
