AP-22AN – Kardake Light Infantry | John Jenkins Designs

Throughout its history, the Achaemenid Persian Empire drew upon the military traditions of the many peoples living within its extensive territories.

During the empire's later period, the Kardakes formed part of its infantry forces, although their exact origins and battlefield responsibilities remain a subject of historical debate.

John Jenkins Designs describes how these soldiers have been compared with Greek hoplites and peltasts, suggesting that their equipment and methods of fighting varied considerably.

The lighter-armed Kardakes were associated with javelins, wicker shields and close-combat weapons, providing the Persian army with infantry capable of operating in more mobile formations.

AP-22AN – Kardake Light Infantry by John Jenkins Designs features three Persian warriors wearing orange and blue tunics.

Each figure carries a distinctive green crescent-shaped shield and is armed with javelins.

The soldiers are depicted running forward, capturing the movement of light infantry advancing across the battlefield.

This three-figure set complements the other Kardake infantry releases, allowing collectors to create a larger Persian skirmishing force.

Part of the John Jenkins Designs Armies and Enemies of Ancient Greece and Macedonia collection.
