HITT-20B – Syrian Archer | John Jenkins Designs
The Hittite Empire reached the height of its power during the Late Bronze Age, controlling extensive territories across Anatolia and northern Syria.
Its prosperity depended heavily upon access to important trade routes and natural resources, making the protection of northern Syria a central concern of the Hittite kings.
The expansion of Egyptian influence under Ramesses II eventually brought the two great empires into conflict at the Battle of Kadesh in 1274 BC, near the Orontes River.
The Hittite army was assembled from soldiers drawn from the empire's territories, together with additional forces supplied by allied and subject states.
Mercenary troops also formed part of this diverse military force.
HITT-20B – Syrian Archer by John Jenkins Designs depicts a Syrian mercenary archer preparing to release an arrow from his bow.
The figure captures the moment immediately before firing, representing the missile troops associated with the Hittite army during the Battle of Kadesh.
Designed to complement HITT-20A and HITT-20C, this miniature allows collectors to assemble Syrian archers in different stages of the firing sequence.
An excellent addition to the John Jenkins Designs Hittite Empire collection.
