HITT-20N – Syrian Archers | John Jenkins Designs

During the Late Bronze Age, the Hittite Empire controlled important territories across Anatolia and northern Syria, where valuable trade routes connected the Mediterranean region with Mesopotamia.

The empire's rivalry with Egypt eventually culminated in the famous Battle of Kadesh in 1274 BC, fought between the forces of King Muwatalli II and Pharaoh Ramesses II.

The battle involved enormous numbers of soldiers and war chariots, with the Hittite army drawing upon troops from across its territories, allied kingdoms and mercenary forces.

Among these soldiers were the Syrian mercenary archers, who formed part of the diverse military forces represented in the John Jenkins Designs Hittite collection.

HITT-20N – Syrian Archers by John Jenkins Designs is a three-figure set featuring Syrian mercenary archers in different stages of the firing sequence.

The set includes:

  • One archer reaching for an arrow, preparing to reload his bow.

  • One archer ready to release his arrow, taking aim at the enemy.

  • One archer having just fired, completing the sequence.

Together, the three figures create a coordinated archery formation, providing an excellent addition to the infantry and war chariots of the John Jenkins Designs Battle of Kadesh collection.

The set can be displayed alongside other Hittite troops to recreate a larger military force from this famous Bronze Age engagement.
