NKE-07 – Egyptian Archers | John Jenkins Designs

During the New Kingdom of Ancient Egypt, the bow was one of the most important weapons available to the Pharaoh's armies.

Egyptian soldiers became highly experienced in the use of massed archery, with the composite bow providing an effective weapon for engaging enemy formations at a distance.

Archers were often positioned to deliver concentrated volleys against approaching opponents, helping to weaken enemy formations before the advance of Egyptian close-combat infantry.

These tactics played an important role in the military campaigns of the New Kingdom, including the period surrounding the Battle of Kadesh in 1274 BC.

NKE-07 – Egyptian Archers by John Jenkins Designs depicts three Egyptian archers in kneeling positions, representing different stages of the archery sequence.

One has just released his arrow, another reaches for a fresh arrow, and the third is preparing to fire.

The kneeling positions provide an excellent contrast to the standing archers of NKE-10, allowing collectors to build a more varied Egyptian archery formation.

Part of the John Jenkins Designs New Kingdom Egyptians collection, this set is an ideal addition to a larger display of Ancient Egyptian military forces.
