NKE-11B – Egyptian Infantry | John Jenkins Designs
The New Kingdom period (approximately 1550–1070 BC) represented the height of Ancient Egypt's military power, with the Pharaohs commanding armies capable of undertaking extensive campaigns beyond the Nile Valley.
Egyptian infantry were supported by massed formations of archers, who used the composite bow to deliver volleys against approaching enemy forces.
The close-combat infantry, described in the John Jenkins Designs historical background as Nakhtu-aa, or the strong arm boys, would advance once the enemy had been weakened by missile fire.
These soldiers used spears, bronze khopesh swords and long mace axes, engaging enemy infantry at close quarters.
NKE-11B – Egyptian Infantry by John Jenkins Designs features three Egyptian infantrymen, armed with khopesh swords, spears and blue shields.
The figures represent the close-combat infantry of the Egyptian army during the famous Battle of Kadesh in 1274 BC.
An excellent addition to a larger formation of Egyptian soldiers, particularly when displayed alongside the archers, chariot runners and war chariots from the same collection.
