NKE-17N – Nubian Mercenaries | John Jenkins Designs

The military forces of Ancient Egypt included large numbers of archers, many recruited from the peoples of Nubia, south of the Egyptian heartland.

Nubian warriors had served in Egyptian armies since the Old Kingdom, earning a reputation for their abilities in scouting, skirmishing and archery.

During the New Kingdom period, Egyptian military operations relied heavily upon archers to weaken enemy formations before the advance of close-combat infantry.

The Medja, among the best-known Nubian military groups, were particularly respected for their skill and experience. Their distinctive appearance included animal-skin kilts and ostrich-feather ornaments.

NKE-17N – Nubian Mercenaries by John Jenkins Designs depicts three Nubian archers leaning forward with their bows, captured in a distinctive battlefield pose.

These figures add variety to a larger formation of Nubian missile troops and complement the other Nubian archery sets in the range.

Designed for the New Kingdom Egyptians – Battle of Kadesh, 1274 BC collection, they can also represent warriors from the army of King Memnon within the John Jenkins Designs Trojan War series.
