TMGC6002B – German Army Cavalry Private with Submachine Gun, 1940–1941 | Team Miniatures

During the opening campaigns of the Second World War, the German Army still made extensive use of mounted troops. Although Germany is often remembered for its tanks and motorised formations, horses remained vitally important for reconnaissance, communications, transport and cavalry duties, particularly in units operating across difficult terrain.

TMGC6002B depicts a German Army cavalry private from 1940–1941, armed with a submachine gun and mounted on a charging dark brown horse. Team Miniatures presents the figure in a highly dynamic pose, capturing the speed and urgency of a mounted soldier moving rapidly into action. The combination of traditional cavalry and a modern automatic weapon reflects the transitional nature of warfare during the early years of WWII, when mounted troops continued to serve alongside increasingly mechanised forces.

German cavalry units saw active service during campaigns including Poland in 1939, France and the Low Countries in 1940, and the early stages of the invasion of the Soviet Union in 1941. Mounted soldiers could move through areas where wheeled vehicles struggled, making cavalry particularly useful for reconnaissance, screening and maintaining contact between advancing formations.

This figure makes an excellent addition to an early-war German Army display, whether used as an individual mounted piece or alongside other Team Miniatures cavalry figures to create a larger reconnaissance or advancing cavalry scene.
