The effectiveness of Civil War infantry depended upon the ability of soldiers to repeatedly load, aim and fire their muzzle-loading rifles while maintaining their position within the battle line.
39GG-07 – Union 39th New York Loading depicts a member of the Garibaldi Guard carrying out this essential battlefield task. A loading figure provides an excellent visual companion to soldiers already firing, helping recreate the different stages of the infantry firing cycle.
Mixing loading, firing and advancing poses gives a larger formation a much more natural appearance and creates the impression of a regiment actively engaged with the enemy.
