GWB-04 – British Medium Mark C “Male” Hornet

By 1918, British engineers had progressed far beyond the experimental machines that first appeared on the Somme only two years earlier.

GWB-04 – Medium Mark C “Male” Hornet represents another version of the late-war British medium tank concept.

The Mark C was intended to combine greater mobility with improved crew arrangements and mechanical development, reflecting the lessons learned from several years of operating tanks under battlefield conditions.

Its late appearance meant that the war ended before the type could establish itself in combat. That makes the Hornet particularly fascinating from a collecting perspective: it represents the next stage of British armoured development that was overtaken by the Armistice.

Place GWB-04 alongside earlier British tanks to create a visual timeline showing just how dramatically armoured vehicle design changed during the Great War.

Available through The Military Workshop – an impressive John Jenkins Designs Mark C Hornet for collectors interested in the technology and evolution of Britain's pioneering tank force.
